Georgia Architectural and Historic Properties Survey of Quitman [331] 301 E. Screven, Valdosta, Ga. December 1980. Citizens National Bank. Four story rectangular plan building. Flat roof. Brick. Cast iron cornice along top of building. Brick pilasters. Sash windows with 1/1 lights in bays of two. Entrance set in an alcove at corner. Large plate glass windows on 1st floor. Good condition. Elevator located inside in the southeast corner. Date of Construction: c. 1910. The First National Bank was the successor of the merchants and Farmers Bank. The Citizens Bank was absorbed by First National Bank in 1918. Before 1910, there was a smaller building here (C.M. Powers and Company - general merchandise). Significant as part of a potential National Register district, a downtown district of early 20th and late 19th century commercial buildings north and south of Screven St.
