Abstract
This issue centers on Effie Cordelia Shaw, the fourth child of Francis Marion and Rachel Shaw. Born April 3, 1871, near Ray's Mill, Georgia, Effie married William D. Clements on December 9, 1888. They established a significant presence in Adel, Georgia, where William founded Clements & Company and served as the first Mayor of Adel from 1896-1899. Though she had five surviving children, Effie endured immense personal losses, including an infant son, her brother, parents, sister, and husband. A Primitive Baptist, her church membership was restored after a brief suspension. Effie passed away on November 24, 1932, due to blood poisoning, and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Adel.
