Abstract
In this letter, dated November 9th, 1862, from a military camp Near Savannah, Georgia, William W. Knight writes to his wife Mary. He acknowledges receiving her recent letters and expresses concern for her toothache. He teases her about sleeping with her "sweetheart" and jokingly warns her about raising young soldiers. He shares that he's been well, except for a bad cold, and describes the cold weather at the camp. He requests more bedding and clothing, mentioning plans to send items back in a box. He discusses the challenging food situation in the camp, with insufficient meat and unappetizing rations. William also mentions the difficult picket duty and hopes for better times ahead. He asks Mary to keep him updated about everything at home and ends the letter with affectionate words.
