Georgia Architectural and Historic Properties Survey of Quitman [341] 509 E. Screven, Valdosta, Ga. December 1980. Quitman United Methodist Church. Church building of rectangular plan. Multi-gabled, hipped tin roof. Brick. Two large square bell towers. One open with arched entrances. The other shorter and closed in. Large arched stained glass windows. Pointed arched overhangs over windows. Arched doorways on all sides. Brick foundation. Very good condition. Date of Construction: c. 1895. In 1935, during praetorship of M. M. Marshall, extensive alterations were made to the church, including brick veneering. Significant as part of a potential National Register historic district, one including the commercial area and some residential east and west of the area.
