Georgia Architectural and Historic Properties Survey of Quitman [387] 606 W. Screven, Valdosta, Ga. December 1980. The Baum House. Rectangular plan with hipped tin roof with clapboard siding. Gabled porch with square posts. Sash windows with 6/6 lights and shutters. Interior chimneys. Transom and sidelights. Date of Construction: c. 1860. Architecturally significant as a good example of a Greek revival cottage. Historically significant as it was built on Quitman's first lot about (1860) (the town was founded in 1858). Significant as part of a potential National Register historic district, along Screven St. and north and south of it, including the downtown area.
