Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine if I, as a school technology
coordinator, could impact how much teachers used technology in the classroom. A
review of the literature revealed that approximately half of America's K-12 teachers were
not effectively integrating technology into the classroom. To help alleviate this deficit of
technology use, local school technology coordinators have placed in many schools. For
this study I used the most commonly found barriers of technology integration that had
been identified in the related research. I established a plan to provide teachers the
resources they needed. These resources became the intervention components of the
study. They consisted of weekly training workshops, software templates, video and webbased
tutorials, modeling, planning and assisting teachers with classroom instruction.
Teachers completed a form before and after the intervention, which established how
much they were using technology in their classrooms. I reviewed teachers' lesson plans
and used equipment sign out sheets to determine if the use of technology improved over
the course of the study. The results indicated that my actions, as school technology
coordinator, did lead to an overall increase in the teachers' use of technology. These
findings suggested that school technology coordinators did influence how much
technology is used within a school. The results of this study were presented to the
learning community through a meeting with the faculty and a video of the study was
made available through our school website.
