My dearest Ma,
Tis very late at night and I feel quite sleepy. Yet I cannot let Uncle William leave without carrying a dollar to you my dear ma, and the mails being very irregular (I do not think you hear from me too often) [PAGE TORN] I should write as often as I can by private persons.
