Abstract

Georgia Architectural and Historic Properties Survey of Rural [275] Ga. 35 - southeast of county, Valdosta, Ga. December 1980. Small rectangular plan building with gabled, tin roof. Clapboard siding. Sash windows with 6/6 lights. Set on brick piers. Five sided bay at front. Good condition. Date of Construction: c. 1872. Organized in 1833, this church is located in the third building constructed since its organization. The present building was constructed under the supervision of Mr. Canneth Yates. Transportation was a problem so he brought the workmen, stock and building material, and a food supply and they worked from Monday morning until Saturday night. This church is significant because of its age and the fact that its location helped to settle the area.
