A journal, comprising an account of the loss of the brig Commerce, of Hartford. Featuring James Riley, master, upon the western coast of Africa, August 28th, 1815. Also discussion of the slavery and sufferings of the author and the rest of the crew. This upon the desert of Zahara, in the years 1815, 1816, 1817. With accounts of the manners, customs, and habits of the wandering Arabs. Also, a brief historical and geographical view of the continent of Africa.
Description
A journal, comprising an account of the loss big commerce. Including slavery in North, Africa. As well as the description and travel of the Sahara. Focuses on Capt. James Riley in the brig Commerce and was wrecked on the coast of Africa, where he was captured by the Arabs and held 19 months as a slave, and until redeemed by the English consul at Mogadore. Written by Archibald Robbins.
