Georgia Architectural and Historic Properties Survey of Railroad Street Church, Quitman, Brooks County, Ga., 1981. Small rectangular plan church with gabled roof. Shiplap siding. Interior chimney. Sash windows with 2/2 lights. Fair condition. Square central bell tower. Atlantic and Gulf Mills / The Cotton Mill. Church. Date of Construction: c. 1880. Built by the cotton mill to be used as place of worship for the millworkers, who lived in tenant houses along Railroad St. Used as an interdenominational school and church. Mrs. Barrs was the first teacher. Not significant as part of a potential National Register district. There are not enough historical structures in this area.
