This week see the return of The Greek Geek, Philip Tanner! In this episode, we talk about the Bible and the problems with translation, context, and why we can never have an “unbiased” translation.
Rev. Philip Tanner, M.Div, M.Ed., also known as The Greek Geek, is a set of apparent contradictions. Philip is strongly influenced by both smells-and-bells Anglicanism and holy-roller Pentecostalism. He is a born-again Christian and an unwavering Christian Socialist who believes in same-sex marriage as part of his Christian family values. Philip embraces Liberation Theology and views Jesus as the perfect Liberation Theologian. Philip prays well with others and gladly associates with any faith tradition that embodies liberation theology and true restorative justice, whether Christian or

Pond, Gina A., Rev.; Whittaker, Lee, Rev.
This week’s co-host is Rev. Lee Whittaker, one of my very good friends from seminary, and a recent graduate of Starr King School for the Ministry. On this week’s show we talk about the “emerging church” and how the welcome that a church gives to those coming in makes a difference between who stays and who runs away.
Rev. Lee Whittaker holds a Masters of Divinity from Starr King School for the Ministry and a Certificate in Sexuality and Religion from the Pacific School of Religion. He is originally from the east coast until he came out to Berkeley, CA to go to seminary in 2010. He is an ordained minister with the Progressive Christian Alliance as well as a 1st degree priest in the Circle of Cerridwen coven. Lee believes firmly in the emergent church movement and its capacity to heal the many in the margins.

Errata: I didn’t realize I’d said “Episode 4″ instead of “Episode 3″ until after it finished uploading. Bleh. Well, there’s bound to be mistakes every now and again, right?
2014-07-04T00:00:00ZReligion, Race, and...Batman? With Jae HowlettPond, Gina A., Rev.Howlett, Jaehttps://hdl.handle.net/10428/33002019-01-03T13:39:49Z2014-06-27T00:00:00ZReligion, Race, and...Batman? With Jae Howlett
Pond, Gina A., Rev.; Howlett, Jae
“Co-host Jae Howlett is an early friend of Rev. Pond in California. The conversation about how Christianity, and other religions, can be used as a front for prejudice in our society, the progressive movement, how to be a good ally, and, of course, Batman is the focus of this episode. Jae Howlett is a 35 year old self-stated Agnostic African American male who reads books on sociopolitical intersections when he’s not watching MMA or reading William Gibson and other cyberpunk Sci-Fi.”
