A collection of Civil War Letters created by the Broun Family between 1860-1864. Northumberland County, Virginia, United States. Includes letters to and from: Broun, Bettie Lee, 1846-1927; Broun, Edwin, 1819-1904; Broun, Harriet C. Johnson, 1824-1908; Broun, William, Captain, 1842-1908; and others.


Captain William Broun (1842-1908) was a captain in the 47th Virginia Infantry Regiment of the Confederate States of America Army. The letters begin while he is in attendance at the University of Virginia in October 1860, and continue through succession and the war, up to 1864.
