Abstract:
Despite isolated cases of unhappiness and opposition to faculty and administration, there have been no prolonged incidents of dissension and protest. In fact, this has been one of the quietest and best years in the past decade. Our student leaders, including Bob Sutton and Lizzie Sikes of our Student Government Association, have been most cooperative and are responsible for much of the calmness that has prevailed during the past year. Our Black students, numbering about 350, have worked well with us, although there have been times when some difficulties have arisen. Fortunately, however, we have been able to resolve our differences.
Faculty members differ in their evaluations of the quality of the
students on our campus. Some consider the caliber of student better than it
has been in the past few years. While others do not concur in this opinion,
the academic work of the student body is satisfactory and better than average
in many cases. One professor stated that the majority of the students are
"seriously interested in doing their best."
