Senate Document No. 85 of the 44th Congress, 1st Session. Detailed report and interviews of survivors of the massacre. In an attempt to interrupt black people from voting, white paramilitary groups attacked black national guardsman, killed six, and wounding many more. 94 white men were indicted for murder, none were prosecuted.
