Georgia Architectural and Historic Properties Survey of Dixie [297] Ga. Highway 364, Valdosta, Ga. December 1980. Greek revival cottage with flanking additions. Gabled roof, square porch posts. Brick over clapboard siding. Double hung sash windows with 12/12 lights. (shutters) Exterior chimneys. Transom and sidelights. Set on brick piers. Excellent condition. Date of Construction: c. 1851. Significant architecturally. These Greek revival cottages are unusual for this area. Frame made of hand hewn logs, nailed together with wooden pegs. Bought by Thomas Boring in 1876, this house has passed through 4 generations of the Boring Family. Mrs. Phillip Simpson is the great, great, great granddaughter of Dr. Boring. Has been remodeled by the Simpsons.
