Abstract:

In this letter dated April 2, 1863, written from Camp Young, William W. Knight expresses his sadness that his wife Mary has been ill recently. He blames her constant studying and encourages her to embrace the Christian lifestyle to feel better and to not pry into issues further. He continues by describing the things he bought for her including a lid for an oven he previously bought. He discourages his wife for writing the way she did before saying he had earned a debt buying her things. He continues by talking about plans for the winter of how to make money for the family and listing out the prices for usual foods and items during winter. He concludes by saying he will try to be better and encourages Mary to not brag about what she can do while sick.
