dc.description.abstract This issue focuses on the life of Francis Arthur Shaw, the eldest son of Francis Marion and Rachel Moore Allen Shaw. Arthur married Martha Victoria Giddens, whose life was marked by the social stigma of her illegitimate birth, and together they had two sons before Victoria's untimely death in 1889. Arthur later married Gertrude Albritton, with whom he had three more sons, and pursued a livelihood in the turpentine industry and farming near Willacoochee, Georgia, where he also served as mayor. The newsletter highlights Arthur’s devotion to work, the challenges of his family life, and the importance of preserving family photographs and stories. It also includes reflections on family history research, memories of ancestors, and the announcement of the first Shaw family reunion. en_US
