dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this action research was to evaluate the influence of interactive whiteboards on fifth-grade student learning and their perceptions of instructional technology. The use of the interactive whiteboard allowed the researcher to use a variety of media without having to switch between DVDs, computers, or TVs and seamlessly navigate through charts, graphics, video streaming, and Internet sites. Multiple forms of data collection were used to ensure reliability before, during, and after the intervention. Results for all data collection methods were analyzed individually and collectively. The intervention findings were shared with staff during an after school celebration. Teachers viewed a PowerPoint which highlighted student interaction and the features of the interactive whiteboard. After the presentation teachers explored the board's features and functions. Results from the study and teacher interaction indicated the interactive whiteboard positively influenced learning and perceptions of technology. | en_US |
