Abstract:
The purpose of my action research study was to examine the effects of an ACTIVote student
response system on students' achievement and their attitudes toward the use of technology, and
to examine the teacher's attitude toward the use of the new technology. I also wanted to find out
if my results would have an effect on whether or not other teachers would be encouraged to use
the ACTIVote student response system with their students in the future. My research was
conducted in a first-year Health Occupations class with students ranging in age from fourteen to
eighteen. The ACITVote student response system was used throughout a unit on vital signs that
lasted two and a half weeks. The findings indicated that the technology did not have a major
impact on the students' achievement, but it did have a positive effect on both the students' and
the teacher's attitudes.
